- Question 1 - A driver is driving in darkness on a dry road. He can see clearly for 35 metres. Which speed is correct for the conditions?
a) 50 km/h
b) 60 km/h
c) 70 km/h
Correct answer: a)
At 50 km/h the reaction distance is 5 x 3 m (per 10 km/h a vehicle travels 3 m/s) = 15m. In poor condition (rain etc) the braking distance is 5 x 5 (speed without the zero multiplied by itself) = 25 m. In good conditions (dry road) the braking distance is reduced to approx. 1/4. Thus the braking distance in this case is approx. 19 m. Therefore the total braking distance is made up as follows: reaction distance = 15 m + braking distance = 19 m = 34 m.
- Question 2 - Why is it not allowed to leave the motor running in a closed space?
a) Because of the noise
b) Because the motor cooling is not sufficient
c) Because of the danger of intoxication and suffocation
Correct answer: c)
A running motor in a closed space causes a danger of intoxication (from the fumes) and a danger of suffocation (because the motor uses up large amounts of oxygen).
- Question 3 - Is it necessary to secure your vehicle before leaving it?
a) Yes, against rolling away and theft
b) Only against rolling away
c) Only against theft
Correct answer: a)
